G3
The 26 and still growing members of G3 build assets among each other and in their communities. Our tightly knit troop of cousins support and build off of each other. As older kids, we act as role models for our younger cousins and help them grow up to be good people. In return, they give us new ideas and bring smiles to our faces.
We always make the extra effort to support each other, especially at all of our varied events. For example, our interests range from many sports to Girl Scout cookies and Boy Scouts to different theater and musical productions. You can always count on looking to the sideline and seeing one of your cousin’s smiling faces there for support.
This year we have decided to bring our asset building to a whole new level. Each of us randomly picked one secret and special cousin for the year. The goal is to make the cousin, younger or older, feel special and important. Of course, it starts off as a secret but part of the fun is learning who is treating you extra special. Some of the things we do are sending a postcard from a vacation, a phone call, or hanging out with them at one of the family gatherings. This experience is very fun and will be capped off by a family camping trip where everybody will say something, like a poem or a song, about their special cousin at a closing campfire.
Starting from a very young age, G3 members are very active in their community as asset builders. We all participate in service opportunities, for example: family trips to Feed My Starving Children, doing boy scout volunteer projects, and help with multiple Northside activities. Hopefully, starting young will lead to a future filled with helping others. Several of the older cousins lead by example and take various leadership roles including: student government, becoming an Eagle scout, being a youth leader for the Peace Dinners, and working with Search Institute. Not only are these opportunities fun but they have a positive outcome for others.
